The Predator-class fighter, better known as the TIE Predator, is a Legacy-era evolution of the classic Imperial TIE Fighter. It was a fast, front-line starfighter used by the Fel Empire. Its most distinctive feature is a pair of long, blade-like wings swept back at roughly 45°, capable of rotating farther aft to alter the ship’s profile and handling in combat. Another defining characteristic is its unusual docking interface, hanging vertically from the rear, bat-like, on a launch rack rather than resting on a hangar floor. Unlike the original TIE Fighter, the TIE Predator was equipped with both a hyperdrive and deflector shields, and was described as “one of the most maneuverable fighters in the galaxy.”
This v2 redesign features a reworked cockpit pod with improved proportions and closer alignment to Dark Horse comics illustrations, along with a fully detailed cockpit and flight controls that match the standard used across my other TIE variants. The wings have been completely redesigned for better shape and sturdiness, and the build is fully integrated into my Modular TIE Series using shared 3-pin Technic connections for mix-and-match compatibility. Despite the added detail and structural improvements, the parts cost comes in at only around $50 USD.
The default wing bracket included in this MOC also works with my TIE Bomber and TIE Raptor. If you’d like to use the Predator wings with my other Modular TIE Fighters such as the TIE Brute, TIE Interceptor, TIE Advanced, or TIE Fighter, use the separate “Small Wing Bracket” to attach the Predator wings to the pod pylons. When you purchase this MOC, you’ll get a PDF to build this smaller wing bracket as well as a “Small Wing Bracket Parts List.xml” file that you can import into BrickLink to purchase the 18 parts that cost approximately $1 USD.
You can use either the TIE cockpit part 18675pb02 from the LEGO set 75300 (shown in my renderings and included in the parts list) or swap it for part 18675pb23 from the more recent LEGO set 75348 (Mandalorian Fang Fighter vs TIE Interceptor).
I’ve designed seven custom TIE variants that share a standardized 3-pin connection point between wings and pods, allowing you to freely swap parts between ships to create alternate configurations and custom builds. Learn more about the Modular TIE Series on my Patreon
