The R-41 Starchaser debuted around 22 BBY as Hoersch-Kessel’s answer to the Z-95 Headhunter, a multi-role starfighter with solid weapons and a Class 2 hyperdrive, but its light armor and modest shields soon left it outpaced by newer designs. While the early Alliance flew it out of necessity, the Starchaser ultimately found its niche among groups operating on the margins, from pirates to syndicates like Black Sun, who relied on its reliability, affordability and ease of upkeep.
I studied many illustrations and in-game references to recreate the R-41 Starchaser in LEGO. The nose carries a sharp profile, the fuselage has a full body that flows to the rear, and the cockpit, engines, and cannons have all been carefully shaped for accuracy. I also integrated removable landing gear and incorporated an internal storage compartment. I’ve built this version in real bricks to confirm it’s sturdy, balanced, and fully swooshable.
