This MOC has been verified as buildable by its designer.

The Graf Zeppelin was the first and only aircraft carrier of the German Kriegsmarine.
It was designed in 1935 by the graduate engineer Wilhelm Hadeler. With a length of 262 meters, it was the longest warship ever built by the Kriegsmarine – a true record-breaker.

It was the largest non-conversion-carrier of its time. And the first aircraft carrier in the world with an armored flight deck. With a top speed of 34 knots, it belonged to the absolute top class – even compared to modern aircraft carriers.

Its double-deck hangar offered an area of 5,500 m², putting it on par with carriers like Ark Royal and the Shōkaku class – and clearly above what American carriers of that time had to offer.
Finally five years later did the Japanese carrier Taihō was launched, clearly surpassing the Graf Zeppelin.

The outbreak of the Second World War ultimately prevented its commissioning. Under the changed conditions of war, the Kriegsmarine could no longer afford the enormous resources required for completion. Although the ship was more than 95% complete, the Graf Zeppelin was never commissioned.

This model strictly follows a 1:200 scale and closely adheres to the original. All three aircraft elevators are functional, and there is an aircraft carousel at the stern.
A special highlight are the Voith Schneider propellers in the bow.
The flight deck includes deployable windbreaks and can be removed.
