T-72AV

The T-72AV was an upgrade of existing T-72As in service, with the only difference being the addition of 227 Kontakt 1 blocks. This greatly improved protection against shaped-charge projectiles such as HEAT (High Explosive Anti-Tank) rounds and RPGs. Unlike the T-64, it was exported far more widely, albeit not to the same extent as the regular T-72A. However, it still has been used in combat in various post-Soviet conflicts, Africa, and Syria.
