LEGO Uscru District of Coruscant MOC

Intro:

  • For this MOC, my goal was to reimagine many scenes from the beginning of Episode 2 and the Clone Wars that took place in the Uscru District of Coruscant using a LEGO Modular inspired design.
  • My main focus was on recreating the chase scene with Zam Wessel, hence the inclusion of both speeders, all characters from the scene, and the Outlander Night Club. To fill the surrounding areas, I included some of the more iconic areas of the residential areas, such as a Dexter’s diner establishment and the terrace from Padme Amidala’s apartment.

Details (Version 3):

  • Total Parts: 4486
  • Size of Model (Without speeder): 35.5 W x 26 L x 27 H (cm)
  • Base size: 44 studs x 32 studs
  • Cost: ~$500 ($0.11 cents per piece)
  • The sidewalk is 8 studs wide, meaning it should line up well with modular buildings.
  • The last image shows how the model can be easily disassembled to show the interiors.
  • Detailed instructions are included an were used to build the physical model pictured above.
  • A sticker sheet is included for the billboard above the diner and the circular Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga character tiles in the kitchen area.
  • BARC speeder and Anakin’s XJ-6 airspeeder are included

Version History:

Version 3:

  • Shown in parts list
  • Highly cost optimized, making it significantly cheaper and easier to source parts
  • More structurally stable
  • Improved building instruction clarity

Version 2:

  • Has all interiors
  • This version was taken and reproduced by Chinese sellers
  • Decent instructions, but I would strongly recommend the updated version 3

Version 1 (released alongside V2):

  • Early version of the MOC with hollow Interior for easier lighting
  • My personal model pictures represent this model
  • IO file only, I recommend the other Versions

Goals:

  • This MOC was designed to fit perfectly into a shelf in my home, hence the odd size, however, I believe that the model should work with LEGO’s own modular series.
  • The main goal was to make the MOC highly detailed and instantly recognizable as Coruscant with many references for dedicated fans.

Logistics:

  • This model has been physically built using the included instructions.
  • All elements are available in LEGO’s historic catalog, all items have been verified with Bricklink in Studio, meaning this model is possible to be built.
  • LEGO’s online pick a brick (PAB) is great for this model as a good amount of the parts are newer and you will save on shipping. I used the BrickHunter browser extension to automate the process of selecting PAB parts.
  • I also used a good amount GoBricks (High Quality Alternate parts), as I’m on a strict budget, however, no parts are exclusive to this brand.
  • The model ended up costing me around $205 dollars total.
  • Estimating the cost of V2 with genuine LEGO from PAB and Bricklink came out to around $500

Tips:

  • Base: I ended up cutting a 32x32 baseplate to replace the uncommon green 8x12 baseplates. I would recommend replacing the baseplates with the MILS plate system if neither option works for you. MILS also makes lighting and transportation easier, although model is not difficult to transport without it.
  • Lighting: If you wish to light the model, you should do it as you build. Areas with white bricks are placed behind the transparent parts to make them brighter, so you might have to remove parts of them to light the areas. Hollow areas have and small gaps have been left in convenient places model to allow for wire travel. An early model (the one I physically built) has a hollow club interior which is perfect to place the battery pack. With the removal of some parts, the same could be done in the final model.
  • Stickers: The sticker sheet is included and is scaled to be printed on an 8.5x 11 inch sheet of paper. The Dexter billboard sticker is placed across the three black panels.

Included in purchase:

  • Three-part instruction booklet for Version 3
  • Sticker sheet
  • Available on request after purchase through Message: Three-part instruction booklet for Version 2
  • Bricklink studio .io fie for V2 and V3. V1 available upon request
